DraftKings Set To Challenge DFS Operators In Australia June 6, 2018 Fantasy Sport

Daily fantasy sports (DFS) operator DraftKings has expanded operations into another continent after confirming earlier this week that it has gone live in Australia. As the world’s biggest DFS platform, this further increases its global reach. Starting this week, players in Australia will be able to compete with DFS players from both the US and Europe.

This expansion into Australia is DraftKings’ eighth expansion. The Boston based provider has operations in the U.S., the UK, Canada, Germany, Malta, Austria and Ireland. Players from different countries can play against each other and this new expansion will create more competition between DraftKings customer base.

In a statement, Jeffrey Haas, DraftKings Chief International Officer, said

DraftKings’ DFS product takes sports fans’ game experience to another level, keeping them more engaged with their favourite athletes, teams and codes. Australia is home to some of the most passionate sports fans in the world and that’s a key reason why DraftKings decided to open there. We’re confident Australians will enjoy the exciting and innovative competition formats we have available across ten international sports, and their ability to compete against other people, both local and international

For those interested in playing on DraftKings, they will find that the company offers a very friendly interface and experience that will allow even beginners a chance to shine. Players can choose to select to join a daily or weekly contest, where an entire season of play is resolved.

DraftKings Will Face Stiff Competition Down Under

DraftKings and FanDuel are the two biggest DFS operators in the United States and together dominate the US market. DraftKings will find it very different down under as there are a number of established DFS operators in Australia who have a strong market share.

DraftKings will have to challenge the likes of Draftstars, TopBetta and Moneyball for market share. It helps that the DraftKings platform has a wide array of contest choices. For beginners, there are beginner-level contests that will allow beginners and casuals to learn quickly and enjoy themselves. For those familiar with DFS games, they can try the casual contests. These casual games are open to players who have played less than 500 games and do not have the Highly Experienced Player (HEP) badge. There are even league contests that are limited to a specific group of family and friends.

For those who want to experience the full experience, the Classic setting delivers DraftKings’ main product. Players can also have a taste of going one-on-one in the Head-to-Head or play without the salary cap in the Pick’em Mode. Though DraftKings started out focusing on football, baseball and basketball, it has now expanded to over 10 international sports that will be sure to attract a wide array of players in Australia.
