Goalkeeper
Petr Cech – Arsenal vs Swansea City – $4,200
I think the safest option in the slate is the Arsenal stopper, Petr Cech.
He may not have very much to do for 90 minutes but I would hope for a win and a clean sheet.
De Gea also has a good matchup and possibly a higher floor, but it’s very hard to trust Man Utd this season.
Arsenal haven’t been great defensively recently, allowing 6 goals in their past 3 games.
However, you have to take into account the fixtures were against Man Utd, Barcelona and Leicester City. Prior to that the Gunners had kept 5 clean sheets in 7 games.
Defender
Ben Davies – West Ham United vs Tottenham Hotspur – $2,900
The value for defenders on this slate seems almost non existent this week, with 10 defenders priced over $4,000. Ideally, we want 3x value from our players, so if a defender is over $4,000, we need at least 12 FPS to make it worthwhile.
Not one defender from that list has averaged over that mark over the season, so the value just doesn’t seem to be in the higher priced defenders this week.
Onto Ben Davies, now there is no guarantee he will start, with the Spurs manager rotating full backs from game to game.
If he does, he is almost a must play at this price. He loves to get forward and crosses the ball a fair amount, but he is also a good defender and scores points through other peripheral stats.
Midfielder
Andros Townsend – Stoke City vs Newcastle United – $4,100
Although his price is on the rise, there is still some value in Townsend whilst he remains fairly cheap.
In his last game against Chelsea he managed to grab a late goal which took his FPS to 20.5. He has sent in a total of 18 crosses over his first 3 games for Newcastle, and I see this as a good matchup for the speedy winger.
Stoke do not have the fastest full backs, so I think Townsend will have some joy on the flanks and be able to get some crosses and shots away.
I would fully expect him to make value, but he may not be setting the world alight in the process.
Forward
Marcus Rashford – Manchester United vs Watford – $4,000
At this price I think you can take a punt on the young lad continuing his form. He came into the headlines after scoring 2 goals in the Europa League, and then another 2 on Sunday against Arsenal.
Whilst I don’t think he can continue to bag a brace every game, he certainly should have some chances to score against Watford.
At only $4,000 I just can’t say no this week, although I will hazard a guess not many others will either.
