Following from our EPL soccer picks on yesterday’s games, we will be looking for more value picks in the remaining Premier League slate. There are just two EPL games remaining being played Sunday and Monday due to FA Cup fixtures over the weekend, and they are:
Aston Villa vs Tottenham Hotspurs ( SUN: 16:00 GMT )
Leicester City vs Newcastle United ( MON: 20:00 GMT )
Goalkeeper
Hugo Lloris (Aston Villa vs Tottenham Hotspurs) – $4,400
As much as we want to find value this week, there really isn’t anything outside the top two goalkeepers in this slate. You don’t want to ever draft an Aston Villa goalkeeper and Newcastle facing Leicester City away just isn’t a good play.
However, Hugo Lloris should be a very safe option this week. I think he just edges Kasper Schmeichel this week, as I feel Newcastle have a much bigger chance of scoring a goal than Aston Villa do right now.
I would fully expect a win and a clean sheet bonus for Spurs, even if they played Thursday at Dortmund in the Europa League.
Defender
Kevin Wimmer (Aston Villa vs Tottenham Hotspurs) – $2,200
Now, I don’t think I have ever recommended playing a centre back before, but if you want a contrarian play I think Wimmer might be that this week.
At just $2,200 he needs around 6 FPS for him to make value. If he gets 3 of those from a clean sheet, he just needs 3 more.
Now, he has really struggled to do that and has only made 6 FPS once since his time starting at centre back, but against a team like Aston Villa I think he should be able to make that 6 FPS a second time.
Midfielder
Idrissa Gueye (Aston Villa vs Tottenham) – $3,600
Gueye is very consistent with his defensive stats, so in a game where I think Tottenham are going to be spending a lot of time in the attacking third, I think Gueye is going to have plenty of work to do.
He makes multiple tackles and interceptions in a game and sometimes the odd shot. He generally scores just below or just over 10 FPS, which is around about his value.
He also tends to score much better when playing at home, so if we can get 12 FPS form a player at his price, I will be happy.
Forward
Alexandrar Mitrovic (Leicester City vs Newcastle United) – $4,700
It’s very hard to find any value outside the elite forwards this week, but if he starts maybe Mitrovic could be worth a look.
With Newcastle sacking their manager before this game, he could be in line for a start under new Rafa Benítez.
The fans have been very vocal in their disappointment at the forward not starting recent matches, so it would be likely to see whoever is in charge for this game throw him in the lineup to appease the fans somewhat.
He hasn’t done too well in his debut season the Premier League, but he has popped up with a few important goals and could do so at the King Power Stadium on Monday.
