Goalkeeper
Kevin Trapp (PSG vs Chelsea) – $4,200
Despite being the biggest favourites on the slate, the PSG stopper is still only the second highest priced keeper, behind Madrid’s Keylor Navas.
Although Chelsea are in much better form right now and they are coming off the back of a 5-1 win against Newcastle at the weekend, PSG is a completely different opponent.
They haven’t lost a league game all season and they will be after a positive result to take to Stamford Bridge in the second leg.
Defenders
Baba Rahman (PSG vs Chelsea) – $2,100
This pick is based purely on price. You won’t find another full back at this price in the slate, so if Baba starts as is expected, he is almost a must own.
With Zouma and John Terry both sidelined, it is expected that Ivanovic will move into the centre which will allow Rahman a starting berth at left back. He has always produced fantasy points when given the chance so his addition to your team should be a no-brainer.
If this all works out how I explained above, it will also make Ivanovic, the second highest defender on the draft, unplayable this week.
Midfielders
Danijel Milicevic (Gent vs Wolfsburg) – $4,200
How this man is only priced at $4,200 is a mystery.
In his 6 group games, the midfielder scored 19.5, 8, 20, 14, 34.5 and 19.5 FPS respectively, giving him an average of 19.3 points per game.
That is higher than all but one midfielder who is priced above him.
He also has a relatively good matchup for this stage of the competition, so at this price I would have him in 100% of my lineups.
Forwards
Cristiano Ronaldo (Roma vs Real Madrid) – $10,500
Every Champions League draft poses the same question, do you play or fade Ronaldo? It is normally a question that splits opinion, with the Portuguese normally hovering over 50% ownership.
He doesn’t have the most favourable matchup this week, facing Roma away, but the Italians do not have the best defensive record at home.
Remember, however, for Cristiano Ronaldo to be a valid pick, he has to score over 30 FPS, meaning he has to at least score 1 goal, possibly two.
I do not see him getting two goals in this game, so I am edging towards giving the superstar a fade this time out.
Jonas (Benfica vs Zenit) – $6,500
He is priced far below the superstar strikers, but Jonas could be the pick of the forward slate.
He has scored 23 goals in 22 appearances in the Portuguese league this season, whilst Zenit have also been shipping in goals.
If you don’t feel like paying up for a striker, Jonas is the best mid-priced option.
